The medieval old town is unique for its narrow and labyrinthine cobbled streets. Especially picturesque is the Calle de la Hoz, with its modest houses built on the rock and its "L" shape with a steep slope, or the Tossalet del Doix, with a viewpoint with panoramic views. Also, the Pou d'Alzina street, which still preserves the Arab layout and the well that gives it its name, or the Moreres street that has a singular shape due to the presence of the Mare stream. The Town Hall Square is surrounded by buildings of great architectural interest. The quarter of Vila Condal, with its various museums such as the Ethnological Museum and streets full of elegant and rustic noble houses. Walking up the gate of the old city wall, you can see the remains of the Centelles Palace, a Gothic-Renaissance building, built in the 16th century. In Alonso Square is the gate of the Virgin Mary, which belongs to the first wall that circled the town and was one of the five gateways that had the medieval city. The wall tower is the only one that has been preserved. The tower-museum of the Palace of Oliva is one of the four corner towers of the Palace, with an almost circular floor plan. Restored in 1999, it hosts an exhibition on the restoration of the tower itself.
