At one end of Sequial street, one of the town’s main streets you can see the Ateneo Sueco del Socorro, built in 1927, the most representative work of Valencian art deco and modernism in Sueca.
It is a 400m2 building of irregular polygonal plant and two heights (ground floor and first floor) and a loft. The facade stands out for its eclecticism where different styles are mixed with references to Egyptian, Arabic, classical architecture and references to iconography on earth, mythology and the Mediterranean. Inside there are some murals by the painter Alfredo Claros recreating the cycle of rice cultivation, as well as a central lamp recovered from the Serrano Theater in Sueca.
Current use: Social center with a big cafeteria and lounge area. Headquarters of the homonymous club that was founded in 1896.
